Students will learn how to play several Taylor Swift songs on the ukulele, including "Shake It Off”, “Ready For It”, “You Belong With Me”, and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" among others. The course will focus on chords and strumming techniques used in each song. Intro to Piano
This class introduces piano fundamentals to children in lower elementary school grades preparing them for formal individual piano lessons. Students will learn the layout of the keyboard, the musical alphabet, finger numbers, posture, hand and wrist technique, and basic rhythms. They practice moving between the right and left hands and from finger to finger through simple songs. Students also learn some expressive elements of musical performance, such as playing loudly and softly. In this class, you'll learn to use Soundtrap's intuitive interface to bring your musical ideas to life—from essential production concepts like arrangement and mixing to creating custom tracks and collaborating in real-time. Once you've mastered the fundamentals, you will tackle creative projects that challenge you to develop your unique production style. Singing Alive (Dedham Housing Authority) for All Ages
DSM is also collaborating with the Dedham Housing Authority (DHA) on Singing Alive, the 6 Week Series fun and free singing workshop (see above for description). Ukulele Class for Dedham Public Housing ResidencesDSM is collaborating with the Dedham Housing Authority (DHA) on the DSM Ukulele Class, a fun and free ukulele workshop. This class will be led by music and movement facilitator, and Dedham School of Music Faculty, Milly Roberts. The series is for those residing at DHA residences, free of charge. This class is for school-aged students at the Dedham elementary schools as well as Dedham Middle and High School. Dedham School of Music is proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of cultural organizations across Massachusetts by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.
