This course is suitable for beginners or those with some ukulele experience who want to learn more about playing Taylor Swift on the ukulele. Students will learn how to play several Taylor Swift songs on the ukulele, including "Shake It Off”, “Ready For It”, “You Belong With Me”, and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" among others. The course will focus on chords and strumming techniques used in each song. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in playing Taylor Swift songs on the ukulele and the confidence to continue exploring their musical journey. Students will need their own ukulele.

Mixed with music related games and introductory violin playing, this class will build up the spirit of fun in playing the violin. By the end of the class, there will be an ensemble performance. Intro to Piano
This class introduces piano fundamentals to children in lower elementary school grades preparing them for formal individual piano lessons. Students will learn the layout of the keyboard, the musical alphabet, finger numbers, posture, hand and wrist technique, and basic rhythms. They practice moving between the right and left hands and from finger to finger through simple songs. Students also learn some expressive elements of musical performance, such as playing loudly and softly. The Digital Music Making class is designed around the belief that creating music should be an exciting adventure, not a technical chore. We focus on teaching you digital music production through the styles and genres that inspire you—because when you're crafting music that excites you, learning becomes something you look forward to. In this class, you'll learn to use Soundtrap's intuitive interface to bring your musical ideas to life—from essential production concepts like arrangement and mixing to creating custom tracks and collaborating in real-time. Once you've mastered the fundamentals, you will tackle creative projects that challenge you to develop your unique production style. Requirements: No prior musical experience is required—just your passion for music and desire to create. Please note: You will need to bring your own laptop and headphones. Singing Alive (Dedham Housing Authority) for All Ages
DSM is also collaborating with the Dedham Housing Authority (DHA) on Singing Alive, the 6 Week Series fun and free singing workshop (see above for description). This 6 Week Series of fun will be led by music and movement facilitator, and Dedham School of Music Voice Faculty, Milly Roberts. Ukulele Class for Dedham Public Housing ResidencesDSM is collaborating with the Dedham Housing Authority (DHA) on the DSM Ukulele Class, a fun and free ukulele workshop. This class will be led by music and movement facilitator, and Dedham School of Music Faculty, Milly Roberts. The series is for those residing at DHA residences, free of charge. It is open to those of all abilities: those who have never played a ukulele before, and those with some experience playing. The class will be held at 5:15pm on Tuesdays, starting on September 17, 2024. It will be held at the DHA Veterans Road location.

This class is for school-aged students at the Dedham elementary schools as well as Dedham Middle and High School. It is for those who have never played a string instrument as well as those who have studied before. This is small group instruction. (Private lessons are encouraged but not necessary.) Dedham School of Music is proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council's Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health's WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of cultural organizations across Massachusetts by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.
EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders are eligible for a tuition discount when enrolling in DSM lessons, classes and ensembles, as follows:
