Faculty Concert

Picture

We’re thrilled to invite you to our upcoming Faculty Concert, where our talented instructors take the stage to share their artistry and passion for music.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the inspiring performers who guide our students every day in action.

We hope to see you there for a night of beautiful music and community celebration!

Donations will be accepted at the door for the Harmony Fund for Financial Aid.  Thanks in advance for your support!

In Memory of Salvatore Sabia
e are deeply saddened to share that Salvatore Sabia, father of our Executive Director, Jody Pongratz, passed away on March 6th at the age of 92 in Port Chester, NY.

A lifelong musician, Mr. Sabia played the trumpet well into his later years. He and his wife filled their home with music, instilling a deep love for it in their four children. As shared in his remembrance, he worked additional jobs alongside his career as a police officer to ensure each of his children had the opportunity to take music lessons on two different instruments. Today, all four continue to play and remain actively involved in music.

In honor of her parents’ 70th wedding anniversary, Jody established the Rose Ann and Salvatore Sabia Scholarship Fund at Dedham School of Music in April 2023. This fund continues to support music education, a cause that was so close to her father’s heart. We are grateful for the generous contributions made in his memory and for the outpouring of support from the DSM community.

Jody deeply appreciates the condolences she has received and takes comfort in knowing her father’s musical legacy lives on.  For our current students,

Class of 2025

My name is Alanah, I've been a voice student at the DSM since Freshman year of high school. I started out with a lot of stage fright, but over the years I've learned to overcome that stage fright and with the help of my voice teachers Katie and Melissa I was able to improve as a singer. I am going to Northeastern University for Criminal Justice and Psychology with a minor in songwriting.

I started taking piano lessons at DSM around a year and a half ago and I have made amazing progress. Linnea has been a great teacher who has supported me and taught me many things about the piano. Thanks to Linnea and the rest of the DSM faculty, I have been able to make progress in learning how to play the piano which is a hobby I can take with me throughout the rest of my life. Freddie will be studying accounting at Suffolk University.

Renee began her musical journey at DSM in fifth grade with clarinet lessons. Renee has successfully participated in concert band and jazz band at Dedham Middle School and concert band at Dedham High School, where she continues to play clarinet as a senior section leader. However, while at the High School, Renee discovered her true passion for singing, especially musical theater. During her sophomore year, Renee signed up for a few lessons with Katie Jillson in preparation for an audition for Cinderella. Renee got the part (Charlotte), and has been enjoying her lessons with Katie ever since! Renee has loved the challenge of learning new techniques and discovering new ranges for her voice. Renee will be attending Brandeis University in the fall, where she plans to study theater and continue singing.
