 Welcome back! We are so excited to begin another school year filled with music of all kinds played by musicians of all types. This year marks our 15th anniversary of offering music lessons to Dedham and the surrounding communities. We're proud of our continuing work, and it brings us so much joy to bring the gift of music to all of you and future students. Fall Lessons... Bluegrass Jam - Remember that on September 12th Bluegrass kicks off with beginner jams which continue the second Tuesday of every month. Intermediate jams are on the fourth Sunday of every month. All sessions are at the First Church in Dedham.. Dedham Community Band, under the direction of Jenn Zevos, begins on Thursday September 21st. The band is open to adults of all ages and students ages 16+. Rehearsals are at 7PM at First Church. Please register for the band. The First Church kicks off its 2023-2024 Friday Coffee House series on September 22 at 7:30 (doors open at 7:00). Up first in the series is Slow Boat Home, a lively collection of country, blues, jazz and jug (yes, jug!) music. Tickets are $15 at the door. Where the River Falls Concert Series - Come see DSM Piano Faculty member, Adam Merrill perform at the Maliotis Cultural Center. Sunday, September 10 at 7:00PM. Electronics Recycling: Date correction: The electronics recycling event is on October 14th (not September 30 as we stated in the last newsletter). This event is brought to you by the Dedham Arts Boosters and the Dedham School of Music. Still got that work laptop from 2012 that your former company never asked you to return? Now's the perfect time to get rid of it! Faculty Notes... Please welcome our newest faculty member, Megan Dillon. She will be teaching Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, and Piano. Megan comes highly recommended by Seychelle Dunn-Corbin, who has been our woodwinds faculty and is currently on a leave of absence. New Classes... Jazz Combo: We are looking for a few more members for our student jazz combo. Please contact your teacher or executive director Jody if you are interested. The group started this summer and has had fun jamming. Early Music Chorale: Come join the fun and sing on Thursday evenings with us. Under the direction of voice faculty Michael Gonzalez, this group was formed last spring and is always looking for new singers! About DSM...
