Dear DSM Community, We have a few important pieces of news to share between our News of Notes that will come out next week. First, we have an exciting new workshop being offered Thursday Dec 1: Acting the Song Workshop: Transform your singing through acting techniques and create inspiring performances. Every song is a story. Every story is a journey. We will prepare for that journey together and discover the character inside the song. In this workshop we will discover what the words really mean to you and your life. You will create a script from your lyrics and create a character body that moves that story. Through acting skills, you will be able to perform your story as a monologue being connected to a character that comes from you. On this journey you get to be brave and bold through patience, trust and commitment. This workshop will occur Dec 1, 7-8:30PM at Dedham School of Music at the Dedham Community House. The participants should be adults or high school students with some voice training. Please bring a copy of the music and a copy of just the lyrics printed out to the workshop. Since this is an acting class, participants need to wear clothing that does not restrict their movements. Cost for the workshop: $55. info@dedhamschoolofmusic.org Friday, 10/14 First Church Friday Folk Coffeehouse will be hosting Slow Boat Home, an Americana/folk band that is influenced by such musicians as Big Bill Broonzy, Bonnie Raitt, Jim Kweskin, Toots and the Maytals and others.
