SAVE THE DATE : UNSUNG DEDHAM 2014
We are excited to announce that the third annual Unsung Dedham will take place on Sunday, April 6, 2014. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the hidden talents of our citizens, the hard work of our students, and the richness of the greater Dedham community.
This year's event will feature performances by our public school band and string students, DSM string chamber groups, and of course the fabulously talented people of Dedham. The event will also feature a silent auction, fine food generously provided by Whole Foods Market, and art activities hosted by talented local artists.
Unsung Dedham is a fun event for the whole family! Stay tuned for more information on how to reserve your ticket!
See how far we've come!
We would like to take some time to share a slide show of photos taken over the past five years to show you a small sample of what we have accomplished together.
This year, we have much to celebrate. It is because of your belief in what we do that in five short years we have come this far! Please consider supporting the Dedham School of Music with a tax-deductible donation. Thank you!
** New DSM Marimba/Percussion Program **
The world of percussion is so full of variety! We will be offering instruction on drum set, xylophone, hand drums, snare drum, and marimba. The marimba is a beautifully mellow instrument and is set up just like a piano! In fact, studying these instruments is an excellent springboard to get started in music and help develop skills that can be used on any instrument, not just percussion!
Rhythm, reading, coordination, and teamwork are just a few of the skills studying percussion will help strengthen.
We are happy to offer early childhood, intermediate, and adult classes.
These brand new classes are made possible through the generous support of the Dedham Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation.
Proud to be supported by:
We are thrilled to announce that Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation is supporting our Elementary Instrumental String Program for the 2013-14 school year through our premier Artist-in-Resident project! Their crucial support will allow us to continue to subsidize the lessons to keep them at an affordable rate while enhancing the program by bringing in professional musicians to perform for and work with the students. Our programs are expanding more and more each year, and we are so excited to be able to offer an invaluable experience to our young musicians.
