If you have any makeups to schedule before Term 2 begins, please get in touch with your teacher if they haven’t already reached out to you. Please note that DSM is closed for the Martin Luther King Holiday on January 16th. This is during our makeup weeks. Please contact your teacher to see if they will do makeup that day. RESOLUTIONS... Speaking of continuing to assist our students, we are pleased to announce that Dedham School of Music was awarded a Dedham Cultural Council Grant to support the Harmony Fund for financial aid for Dedham Residents. Dedham Community Band The band resumes Thursday January 19th at 7pm at First Church. Come join the band! Bluegrass Jams The next beginner jam is Tuesday, January 10th and the intermediate Jam is Sunday, Jan 22nd both 7pm at First Church. Community Concerts First Church Friday Folk Coffeehouse presents its fourth concert of the 2022-2023 season featuring the Gloucester Hornpipe and Clog Society in the Parish Hall at First Church and Parish Dedham, 670 High Street, Dedham on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 7:30 pm in the Auditorium. There will be refreshments for purchase. Tickets are $10 available online and at the door. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Clash of the Pianos Feeling jazzy or fancy? Join us for a can't-miss concert of clashing piano styles. On February 4th at the First Church in Dedham, the classical piano stylings performed by award-winning pianist and Dedham School of Music faculty member Adam Merrill go head to head with the jazzy sounds of local Boston pianist Sam Gilman and his trio featuring bassist Marc Friedman (Natalie Merchant, Ryan Montbleau) and drummer Pete Maclean (Maceo Parker). Tickets are $20 (purchase here) and doors open at 7PM--refreshments available for purchase. No matter your preference, it's really the best of both worlds. THANK YOU... We say goodbye to Laura Swartz who has been DSM’s administrative assistant since March, 2019. She has served our community with a smile and we wish her well as she begins a new chapter pursuing her Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology. And we welcome Laurie Bloom who has been working with Laura these past few weeks. Stop in the office to say hello!
