5/17/2023 News of Note
Our first Giving Day was a major success. We raised over $5500-of which $3700 was to the Sabia Scholarship in the Harmony Fund! Thank you to all who have donated.
Even though Giving Day has come and gone, it's never too late to donate. Your donation will go toward Summer Music Scholarships and programming, as well as classes at the Dedham Housing Authority. Whether it is $5, $50 or $500 your gift of music matters to the students!
Summer Registration is open! Summer is a wonderful time to try lessons with a new instrument or study the same one with a different teacher, to gain new perspectives. On top of our classes, we also have a number of groups, such as Jazz Band and Early Music Chorale. Summer sessions run from July 10 - August 18, with private lessons available throughout the summer, based on faculty availability.
DSM Faculty and Board have been participating in Dedham Reads!, at the main branch of the Dedham Public Library. We hope you can attend the last performance this month on May 11.
Dedham Reads Finale Bash!
There was a very fun Dedham Reads! finale held on May 13 at the First Church Parish Hall. Music from Joe Rich, Sonya Rae Taylor, Jonny Pape and DSM's own Sam Gillman filled the walls, and food from "Stuffed by Papi" food truck contributed to the fun.

We will highlight some of our graduating seniors over the next few News of Notes:Campbell Greeley: Campbell has been taking music lessons from Dedham School of Music since 2013. He started out playing the cello and along the way picked up piano, which he really likes. He is very grateful for the wonderful opportunities he has had being a student at DSM. One of his favorite memories is playing with the Parkway Orchestra. He is graduating from Blue Hills Regional Technical School this June and plans on attending Fitchburg State University in the fall. Campbell will be majoring in Communications Media, with a focus on Film and Video Production.
Esther Yee: At DSM Esther has studied the fiddle (2018-2020), piano (2019-2023) and electric guitar (2020-2023). She'll be studying biology, computer science and music at Gordon College.
Brooke Merrill, wife of DSM Piano Faculty Adam, is experiencing health problems and is asking for your support. Please go to her gofundme if you would like to help: www.gofundme.com/f/brookes-recovery-after-shingles
Could you use a DSM tote to carry your music, or a DSM car magnet? It's nice PR for DSM and a great way to show your support. Contact the DSM office to purchase either of these. The magnets and totes can also be purchased at the DSM office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 2:30-5pm.
