The Dedham School of Music has organized an online community chorus for singers who are feeling the loss of group singing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While technology limitations don’t permit true synchronicity in singing, the Dedham Community Chorus hopes to offer people the opportunity to make music in community until we are able to sing together in person again. Beginning on July 1, under the direction of Sara Santos, Dedham Public School music teacher, the chorus will join together on Zoom to learn and rehearse three pieces of music over the course of the 9-week session. One piece will be performed and produced into a recording. Rehearsals will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm, with time set aside for socializing. Participants from ages 10 and up are welcome to join. There is no fee to participate, but a $50 donation to the Dedham School of Music is suggested to cover the instructor’s stipend, music licenses, etc. Click here for more information and to register.
